Brothers Cleaners - Marketing Director 94-98
Ironically, one of my best clients at The Leadsource was Brothers Cleaners, multi-location, family-owned dry cleaners with, at the time, over 90 years of experience. As their Marketing Director, I was able to develop skills in budgeting, planning & strategizing, building multi-layered campaigns, customer service, and tracking. Bob and Tom Hilker (the twin brothers who own Brothers Cleaners) gave me the freedom to do what I thought was best for their business. I learned that, when left alone to get the job done, I took responsibility like it was MY business at stake. This environment helped me hone my skills and learn from my mistakes. Now, Brothers Cleaners, which is still a client, has blossomed into an impressive, modern company.
The Marketing Machine - President 98-present
As my experience grew with Brothers Cleaners, I was able to begin building organizational systems to handle additional clients on the side. In comes The New World Coffee House. A brand new, locally owned, start-up coffee house . . . coincidentally, just a few doors down from Brothers Cleaners. Long story short, The New World became my first side client. A year later and a few more side clients (never missing a beat for Brothers Cleaners, I might add), I began formulating a plan to begin The Marketing Machine. When that plan was complete, I sat down with Bob & Tom (the owners of Brothers Cleaners) to share my goals of owning my own consultancy. Several months later, I was no longer their employee, but their consultant, and The Marketing Machine was born. With an aim to help small to medium-size businesses develop and implement marketing and advertising strategies, as they say . . . that’s all she wrote.
